Research/Lab Technician II - 27942

The School of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri – Kansas City invites applications for Research/Lab Technician II position.  Primary responsibilities are receiving, storing and/or delivering packages and laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge of biology and chemistry.  Duties include escorting delivery or service personnel through the buildings to access research and teaching laboratories. 

This position requires moderate physical effort, lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs. will be routine. Another key duty will be to assist the Building Manager in moving office/lab furniture and clearing lab spaces.

This position includes assisting with laboratory inventory management, as well as office tasks and miscellaneous duties as assigned.  Experience in Microsoft word, outlook and excel is required.

Assistant or Associate Professor

The School of Biological Sciences at the University of Missouri – Kansas City invites applications for two full-time tenure track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. We encourage applications from individuals who employ molecular, cellular, or in silico approaches to address fundamental biological questions. The primary attributes we seek in candidates are (1) demonstrated excellence in research, as the faculty member would be expected to initiate or continue an independent, extramurally funded research program, and (2) potential or demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring.

The School of Biological Sciences grants degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. MS and PhD degrees are granted in Cell Biology & Biophysics or Molecular Biology & Biochemistry. “Life and health sciences” is one of three areas emphasized in the UMKC campus mission. Participating units include the School of Biological Sciences, the School of Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Dentistry, and the School of Nursing and Health Studies.
