Current Interests
"The Fungal Genetics Stock Center is an NSF-funded repository of genetically characterized fungi. In recent years, we have added molecular genetic resources such as cloning vectors and genome libraries. As curator of the Fungal Genetics Stock Center, I have been involved in a variety of projects ranging from database development and web-delivery to genome-wide targetted gene knockout efforts. As more fungal genomes have been sequenced, the definition of what constitutes a genetic model has had to change to acommodate many more organisms. While the FGSC was founded to work with two main organisms, Neurospora and Aspergillus, we now hold isolates and clones from many organisms including plant and human pathogens as well as industrial micro-organisms and even mushrooms."
