SBS Undergraduate Program
The undergraduate program in the School of Biological Sciences at UMKC is a small academic unit within a large university, providing our students personalized attention and state-of-the art facilities. We offer a rewarding and challenging opportunity to explore the life sciences at the molecular and cellular level.
What sets us apart?
Personal Attention
Faculty, advisers, and fellow students will help you develop your interests and career goals, and offer the support you need to achieve those goals.
Modern Curriculum
Courses focus on the cellular and molecular aspects of modern biology, preparing students for today's careers in genetics, microbiology, medicine, biotechnology and more! Many of our courses are enhanced by laboratory classes.
Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Students are encouraged to gain hands-on research experience while working one-on-one with a faculty mentor. Research experience expands critical thinking and problem solving skills while developing an in-depth understanding of the biological sciences.
Excellent Resources
The School's faculty and it's close proximity to Midwest Research Institute, Missouri Department of Conservation, Linda Hall Library, and Stowers Institute, provide a stimulating learning environment.
